Silly talk and nonsense... That's all it really is.

 I’m 1 year older this weekend…

And I’m tepid about it…

I’ve never really done anything special for my birthday…
Not since I was a little kid…

I did talk to a friend of mine…
And I might want to get something together later this month…

But when it comes to this weekend…

The familiar might be the way to go…

I’ll probably hit up…
(I think it’s tomorrow…)
Snaxx…
A party that happens on alternative Fridays
In the basement of the Westside Tavern…
With my friends Gustavo and Rich King Djing…
Great music…
And burly bear types pounding back beers…

Probably stay there till 1…
Then head over to…
The Cock in the East Village…
(My usual haunt on a friday night.)
Another friend there…
Dominic Brando, DJ’s the night…
Again…
Great music…
And a great place to get lost in…

Sat…
meh…
We’ll see…
Maybe some me time… :)

Then Sun…
Beer blast at the Eagle…
(My usual haunt on Sunday… :) )
With friend…
Paul Ferrer manning the CD decks…
Great music…
Surly, burly dudes…
Cheap beer…
And a great place to get lost…

See a trend?

So that pretty much sums it up…

Exciting, isn’t it… LOL

 Whoa… We’ve hit 1000!

I came in tonight…
And just noticed…

The counter has rolled into 1000+

Very Jerry Lewis Telethon…

LOL

Thanks to all that have joined me in this jalopy of a blog…

Especially to many of my fellow bloggers…

I’d also like to thank all the people trying to find
Fanta soda costumes for Halloween through my blog…

(Geez… If i had a dollar for everytime someone entered my blog
looking to dress up like a Fantana hussy…
I’d be rich right now.)

Woot.

 My new obsession…

Thursday Plantation - Tea Tree Toothpicks

Maybe it’s my oral fixation…

please choose from the following:
a. “Oh… I can give you something to fixate on.”
b. “Gee… I wouldn’t have guessed with you being a cock sucker and all.”
c. “You weren’t weened properly as a child, were you.”
d. “Blow me.”

But I love these chewing sticks/toothpicks…
I normally chew gum…
Like, all the time…
But these are great…
They are chock full of flavor…
Just as strong as Dentine Ice Black…
They last for hours…
And…
I feel like a bad ass with a toothpick chopping in my mouth…
Awesome…

 Miami Ink

I previously wrote about
some of my favorite TLC and Discovery Channel shows…
Mostly because of the good looking guys that they featured…
And my new favorite show is no exception…

Miami Ink is a new show that has been added to the TLC line up
about a group of friends that have opened a tattoo shop in Miami…

I was attracted to the show by the guys at first…
Especially Nunez and Darren
(I love tattoos on a guy… woof.)
But after watching it more and more…
I’ve grown to love it in other ways…

The tattoos that they’ve done are beautiful…
From whole compositions…
To more archetypical symbols…
Each one is executed brilliantly…
All the artists bring so many different strengths to the shop
that anyone could walk in there and find something they’ll love…

But another part of the show that I love are the stories…
The reasons that people get the tattoos…
Some get them as gifts…
Some as a bond towards loved ones,
some still here and some that have passed away…
Some get them as protection…
Some as celebrations or notations…

This is my favorite part…
It hits home cause I have 2 tattoos of my own…

The very first one that I had gotten is this one…

I received this tattoo when I was in my early 20’s…
This ankle tattoo is a chain with a link being broken…
I wanted something to encompass the feeling
I had about myself at that time…
I was at a point in my life where I needed to come into my own…
To break away from the me that was holding me back…
And set free the me I wanted to be…
I imagined a link of chain holding my leg from moving forward…
Almost shackling me to my past…
Then me forcing my leg ahead…
Wanting to strive free…
Breaking away…
And breaking the chain…

My second one is this one…

It’s a tattoo that wraps around my forearm…
I got this almost a year ago…
It, in the simplest term, is a “beat”
Music is a big part of my life…
Wrapping around me and through me…
I wanted this to reflect that…
But it also means more than that…

There is a belief in some of the eastern religions
that there is a tone or sound that runs through all things…
Thus why people chant, recite mantras, etc…
To be in touch with that sound, with everything…
This is a play on that…

I believe that everything has a rhythm…
That everything has a beat…
It is that one beat that ties us all together…
The movement of the stars…
The changing of the leaves…
The crashing of the tide…
The flicker of fire…
The flow of traffic…
The pace of solitude…
Life, death, and everything before, between and after…
It all goes to a beat…

I also wanted something archetypical…
That could be looked at different ways…
I wanted something tribal…
But modern…
Something electronic…
But elemental…
Opposite ends brought together in balance…

I love both my tattoos so much.

But after watching Miami Ink for a while now…

I’m craving another…

and soon.

 Virtually Drunk…

On my way home tonight…
After a full night of beers and bears…
I popped on my Burnout Legends game on my PSP
to kill sometime…
I’d just like to say…
If you ever see me try to to get behind the wheel of an automobile…
After a night I had tonight…
Smack me in the face and take away the keys…

Then depending on who you are…
smack me on the ass and throw me over your shoulder…woof.

But seriously…
I really saw how off my reaction time was with the game…
like, turns I normally would be able to do in my sleep…
Ended up coming out of nowhere…
Crash after crash ended up happening…
Just pure carnage…
Eeeek…

Don’t Drink and Drive.

Seriously…

Shake what ya’ mama gave ya’….

This past week has been a brilliant series of coincidences…
We received a record at my job that my friend had produced…
I hadn’t seen him for a while and had planned to call him
sometime later to tell him that we had received his song…
Well…
I ended up heading up to the West Village on my way home
to pick up a Mega Millions ticket…
“All it takes is a dollar and a dream.”
Then…

BAM.

I run into my friend hanging out on a street corner talking to someone
after he had just finished parking his car…
We end up shooting the bull and catching up on things for a while…
He ends up telling me that an good friend and former customer
from the store wanted to call me and that my friend gave her my number…
I was like, “cool” and then put it away in the back of my brain…

After we parted, I got my ticket and headed home…
Got home…
And went through my normal routine…
Started making dinner and in the meantime
going through my email and RSS feeds…
I ended seeing that evilBuddha was going to see Danny Tenaglia@ Crobar…
But I also saw that Derrick Carter was playing @ Spirit…
I hadn’t seen Derrick play in a while…
So I had decided to start asking around about sorting things out for the event…

Anyway…
As I was sitting there…
My cell phone rings…
“Hello?”
“Hey there babe.”
“D?”
“Mike?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh my god… I called the wrong number.”
“Who were you calling?”
“This butch queen I had a date with. I’m running late.”

LOL

Basically we catch up with things and
I find out she is going to see Derrick at Spirit too…

what a coincidence…

We end up making plans where…
If my plans fall through that I would meet up with her…

Well to make it short…
My plans fall through…
And I end up planning to go with her…

I go meet up with her after a good number of beers
were thrown back while listen to my friend DJ’ing at The Cock…
I’m sitting in her apartment and find out
we’re meeting up with a DJ friend of hers…
And that we were actually going to be staying at Spirit for a little bit…
Then we are going to Crobar…
I’m like… eh… OK…
I would have liked to have stayed @ Spirit longer… but… Alright…

Anyway…
We all get to Spirit…
Derrick was playing some great stuff…
Funky, snappy, swirly house music…
Chicago down…
Loved it…
We end up going up to the booth and saying hi to Derrick…
And then decide to go over to Crobar…

We head over to the next block…
We arrive…
And on our way through the ropes…
I end up seeing someone at the front of the line
that looked familiar to me…
This good looking Asian man waiting to get in…
then…

BAM.

On my way past I say…
“evilBuddah”
smile and walk past…
Hoping to run into him inside…

LOL

Well it was mayhem…
In a slightly good sort of way…
Busy…
But the crowd was a bit… “meh”
The music was typical Danny…
Dark…Tribally… Pumpin’ house…
It took me a bit to get into it all…
But once he reved up…
Woo boy…
I was danceing like it was going out of style…
After about an hour…
I feel a hand on my shoulder…
It was Davis… evilBuddha…
Even amongst the huge crowd
we managed to find each other…
We made our greetings
and ended up dancing together for the entire night…
I had lost my other friends in the mean time…
But i made a new one in the process…
It was great hanging out with him…
Getting down with his bad self…
:)
After a long while…
My body started caving in…
I was pooped… and had to get to my bed….
I heading home…
And fell asleep,
satisfied with this perfect series of coincidences…

“Bring out the Gimp… Bring out the Gimp.”

OK…
For those who know me…
I’m not a vicious man…
I can be a bit cynical at times…
But that’s it…
So…
As a disclaimer:

I have no personal prejudice towards those who
are handicapped or have any type of physical deformity.
For those readers who might be offended by my following comments,
I do apologize in advance.

Alright…

With that out of the way…

Gimp.

I don’t know why the word is funny…
But me and a co-worker had a knee slapping,
side splitting, hearty guffaw over this word…

Here’s the synopsis…

My co-worker had found this oversized, bright orange, plastic letter “G”
someone was going to throw away in our office building…

He decided to put it up at his work station cause of the whole…
“Yo ‘G’, wat up.” type deal…

Anyway…
Today he decides to clean up his desk and get rid of some of his clutter…
To clean up a bit,
He decides to put up the letter “G” up on one of our walls while I was out to lunch…

I come back and see it… and immediately start to laugh…

It was hung high up… and reminded me of Sesame Street
when they would sound out words like…
“C”… “at”………… “Cat”

Well… he goes out to lunch…
And I decide to write out the letters…
“imp.” on a piece of paper…
And tack it on the end of the “G”

So the word “Gimp.” is hanging on the wall…

He comes back and cracks up…

We’ve then agreed to use the “G” to have a “word of the day” each day…

And as an added bonus… you must use the word in the form of a sentence, phrase or name.

And of course…
The way that we are…
We took this way out of control…

One person chimed in:

“On the way to work today… I laughed at a gimp.”

Which I countered with:

“Don’t laugh at the gimp… She is my mother.”

Then my co-worker chimes in:

“Hey…Did you see that movie Tom Hanks was in? Forrest Gimp?”

We looooooost it after that…

and then it was on…

Osama Gimp laden

George W. Gimp

There are so many more ridiculous ones…
But I can’t recall them off the top of my head…
But let’s just say…

None were tasteful…

Awesome.

 A perfect day.

Yesterday I went to Riis Park Beach again…

I’d just like to say…

Eating a juicy red apple…
With the sun shining brilliantly overhead…
As a cool breeze blows by…
On a beautiful sandy beach…
As guys sunbathe all around you…
While the rhythmic crashing of the waves churn in the distance…

Makes for one of the best days I have had…

EVER.
