Silly talk and nonsense... That's all it really is.

Take us out Mr. Sulu… Warp Speed…

(Darn it…
Seems like many of my favorite blogs already have posted this…
But… Meh…)

Well…
We all kinda knew it…
Most didn’t really even think about it…

But George Takei…
Know throughout the world from his portrayal
of Mr. Sulu on Star Trek…
Has come out of the closet…

He joins the very… very… very short list
of out asian actors in the entertainment industry…

BD Wong
and Alec Mapa
(I haven’t seen him on Half & Half…
But I did catch his stand up act on Logo Television
My god… Hil-lar-ri-ous. Every time it comes back on..
I have to watch it again)

But yeah… that’s it…
That’s all she wrote when it come to out professional working asian actors.
This is kinda why I ended up not really persuing acting…

I majored in acting in college…
I don’t regret it…
cause it helped me through a lot of issues I had.

But after being out of college for a couple of years…
Going from audition to audition…
I ended up getting so frustrated…

There were never any roles for a person of my ethnicity…
And being Filipino made it tougher…

Filipinos are technically half Spanish, half Asian…
So whenever I would go to auditions…
Especially ones for TV…
They didn’t know what to do with me…
I wasn’t Asian looking enough…
And I wasn’t Spanish looking enough…

I ended getting roles in groups scenes…
Or sent on auditions for
Hawaiian…
Fijian…
and
Eskimo…

Yup…

Eskimo…
Loved that audition…

They were like…
It’s a commercial for gasoline…
But it’s kinda “Northern Exposure”esq…

Riiiiiiiiiight….. Ok…. whatever…

Needless to say… I didn’t get it…

But yeah…
This was all years ago…
And now…
Mr. Sulu has joined the clan…

of 3 people…

For those asian/pacific islanders out there persuing acting…
Damn…
More power to ya’…
Cause it’s gonna be tough…

And for those out there who are “out” and about…

You better be hard core serious…
Cause it’s gonna be slim pickins’ out there…

But if you are serious…
Good luck…
And I hope you make it big…

It’d be about time when we get a major asian actor
(out or not)
on screen in a major starring role…

WHO DOESN’T HAVE TO DO KUNG FU OR SOME SORT OF
ACTION JUMPING OUT OF CARS BULLSH*T.

Someone found a letter you wrote me… on the radio

And they told the world just how you felt
It must have fallen out of a hole in your old brown overcoat
They never said your name
But I knew just who they meant.

Oh, I was so surprised and shocked, and I wondered too
If by chance you heard it for yourself
I never told a soul just how I’ve been feeling about you
But they said it really loud
They said it on the air
On the radio whoa oh oh
On the radio whoa oh oh
On the radio whoa oh oh
On the radio whoa oh oh

I was on the air…
(Well more correctly, on the net…)
just recently…
I was a special guest on a podcast…
And had a blast!

Peter from Macboy X had me on his podcast…

 Sunday Shenanigans

I decided to photolog my sunday out…

Cause…

well…

Just cause.

Anywho…
Here is a montage of my Sunday…
by

Le Me

I ended heading out of my apartment to catch the train @ the Atlantic Avenue Center Mall around 4PM…

After fueling up @ Starbucks…

I was off to 34th Street…

“Why?” you may ask…

Well Peter over at MacboyX / Oh My Pod
got me a hook up on a ticket for the
Digital Life Expo
that was happening at the Jacob Javitz Center

(Oh BTW… I would like to take this opportunity to just state:
Peter Rocks! Thanks Peter!)

I had heard about the expo online and was interested in going…
But it hadn’t been at the top of my list…

(Hell, I might have missed it… if Peter hadn’t reminded me.)

Anyway
I got to 34th St. and 8th Ave…
And begun treking my way to 10th Ave…

And…

I quote…

“It’s a twister!!! It’s a twister!!! Auntie Em!!! Auntie Em!!!”

Like… HUGE gusts were coming from the Hudson River…
And since 10th Ave is close to the water…
I was getting full blast of it all…

Sheesh…

But anyway…
I ventured forward and made it to the Jacob Javitz…

I got my ticket…
And as soon as I walked in…

My inner geeked started to pant..

I entered the ropes and
I was immediately bombarded by plasma screens everywhere…

NICE!

I was mainly there to see any new developements
with the next generation video game consoles…
And any type of peripherals for my sony PSP…

But it was great to see the gadgets, programs and services
that the market has and is to about to offer…

I could go on for hours with all that I saw…
But I’m only going to focus in on the highlights…

First…

Multiplayer tournaments

There were nurmerous LAN first person shooter tournaments being held…
I had always seen these things happening on G4 TV
(Where multiple people are connected on the same network and play together on multiplayer games…)
But I had never seen one up close…
Real cool…
Seeing multiple screens set up next to each other…
Showing different perspectives of the same gamefield…
Gunfire and carnage at it’s best…

There was also…

*gulp*

A tournament for…

(LOL)

I sh1t you not!!!

I was extremely amused…
Cause…

1. The conestants were DEAD SERIOUS about what they were doing…
(But I guess I would be too… I think there was prize money involved…
like $2000 or something.)

2. As a person in the music industry…
the music used on these games are hideous…
and these guys aren’t really dancing…
It’s really like Pavlovian Riverdancing.)

and

3. The strong gamely smell of geek sweat was wafting through the air…
(Cause they were “gettin down” like nobody’s biznatch.)
And geek sweat is much different from normal sweat…
I think its the regular diet of Doritos and root beer…

It was a hollar and a half…

Next…

Accessories

Cause…

Well I’m gay…
(OK… not all gays love the accessories… but… work with me…)

I didn’t really find anything for my PSP…
(darn)
But there were bushels of Ipod accessories….

The most ineresting ones…

The ipod purse…

Functional and fashionable…
A seperate and pronouced pouch for the lady on the go…
(That sounded kinda dirty… hee hee hee.)

The IGuy and IKitty…
(Awwwww so cute… meow.)

And this one…

I have no idea…
But I thought Peter would have wanted this if he had made it to the show…
(Or at least had gotten a whole hearted “gafaw”… :) )

Then

The Odd

Virtual Bowling?

So let me get this straight…
You made a sport video game to get kids into being active
based on a game where men who can’t run 5 feet without panting
cause they bulit up a gut from all the beer they consumed
while sitting on their fat asses in between getting up walking 2 feet and tossing a ball?

Nice.

And next…

Ummm…

Why?

Just sooooooo bad…

And finally

The Brilliant

Yay!!! Rampage!!!!

Conferenced Music Jamming…
(LIke one person plaing the drums here… someone playing the horns in the East Village
And someone playing the guitar in Florida…. awesome.)

Yay!!! Golden Axe!!!!

Guitar Hero… Think Karaoke for the air guitarist in all of us…

And…
WOW…
The XBox 360…

I just have to say…
Even though, I’m more than likely gonna be getting the Playstation 3 when it comes out…
The Xbox 360’s gameplay and graphics are INSANE!!!

Beautiful… just beautiful…

Speaking of beautiful…

After about an hour or two…
I started getting bored…
So like many other gay men with a digital camera on hand…
I decided to take a couple of pictures of some cutes guys that were there…
(And surprising… there were pleeeeeenty.)

The gratuetous security guard shot…

and the on the sly…
“Hey look at that screen. I need to take a pic of that.”
While secretly snapping a photo of the guy you think is cute…
By getting him in the corner of the frame…
*sigh*

But that lasted for only so long…

So I moved on to
The Eagle for it’s Sunday Beer Blast…

(It’ was only a couple of blocks down… so :) )

I hung out with the guys for a bit…
Sucked down some beer…
Played some pool…
(Which I still not have learned that I should never play when I’m drunk.)
And had a “blast”.

After a number of brewskies…
I was well lubricated for the next vernture of my trip…

The 3rd anniversary party of the 718 Sessions…
Danny Krivit’s Monthly bash held at Deep…

This was the perfect topper for the night…
Great music…
Good people…
And FUN… FUN… FUN…
God… It was sooo much fun…

Sunday was brilliant…
And looking back on these photos…

I’d just like to say…

New York, New York… A hell of a town.

*grin*

Hello… (Hello Hello…) Is there anybody out there?

Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

*puts up lighter*

Floyd!

Sorry…
Had a moment…

But really… the question is…

Where the hell are all you people coming from?!?!?

As you might have noticed…
I have a stat counter tucked in the side of my blog…
I’m just curious as to whom is visiting me…
What brought you here…
Etc…
Ya know… no big woop…

But recently… I’ve seen the hits on the site like,
triple in the past 3 or 4 days…

I’m not complaining…

I’m just curious as from where you guys are coming from…

I get some info from my counter…
Like if someone came to me cause they googled something
and wanted more information on the subject by going to my blog…

(I get a number of hits from people looking for “fanta costumes”
and just recently for “Miami Ink”… lol.)

But the large number of people
who have been flooding in..
Don’t register with any type of referring site or search…

Very weird…

So…

If anybody is out there…
Which from the counter’s perspective…
There is…

Could somebody just…

I don’t know…

Mention how they got here…
In the “comments” section…

Just to satisfy this curiosity…

Thanks :)

 Hear hear

Originated in the British parliament in the 18th century
as a contraction of ‘hear him, hear him’.

Yes… hear him… hear him…

Especially when he has his BF Shawn and their friend AJ on…
They do carry on…
It’s a kiki.

So go check it out…

pssst… I made the picture below a hyperlink to the site ;)

 Ok… I DON’T want to hate anyone…

Really I don’t…
But motherf*cker…

Ok…
I’m a lover, not a fighter…
I can be assertive when I need to…
I could be more aggressive sometimes…
And I have taken the passive/aggressive route more than once…

I blame my Dad…
Yeah… yeah… I know…
…always blaming the parents… what a cop out….
Well ya know what…
They’re my parents…
I was the one to grow up with them…
So…
F. U. smart @ss…

Anyway…
Growing up, my Dad always had a short fuse…
Like ALWAYS…
Used to blow up at the littlest thing…
This combined with another “problem” he had…
Made life a little…

ehem…

Difficult…

I coped with it all with many defenses…
Complete emotional shut down sometimes…
Being passive/aggressive…
And not being assertive at times…
Even though I knew he was wrong…

(We had an arguement one time when I was young
where he thought 12 AM was 12 PM cause his rational was,
11PM follows 10PM , so 12 PM has to follow 11PM…
Like WTF! And his mentality was always
“I know what’s right… Use your head.”)

In the end I just didn’t want to deal…

I let things pass by me or if something came up against me…
I’d concede…

He wore me out… emotionally.

Well…
As I got older…
I got wiser and I’ve grown up some
when it comes to my emotions and situations…

thank god…

But now I have someone in my life…
Who I have to interact with all the time…
And I really, really, really loathe them…
Like, battery acid in the belly…

This person is rediculously aggresive to the point of being mean…
They make situations unreasonable…
Cause they believe that they are right…
And that they do no wrong…
There’s always this undertone of…
“You’re such a f*cking moron. This should be simple.”
Whenever this person needs me to do something…
But never really states what they need…

But I can’t really “hate” them…
This person just oozes an air of “miserable”
Like life beat them down…
Or that they’ve beat themselves down…
And they’re just passing on the pain…

But it still irks me…

I want to be more aggressive with this person…
But… there’s a big part of me that haunts my head and says…

“Don’t end up like your Dad.”
“Don’t yell… don’t force your aggressiveness forward.”

My Dad had 2 heart attacks
cause he was always stressed…
Always on a short fuse…
Always trying to push…
And be aggressive…
And get things his way…

I’ve never seen him really happy…

And I’ve seen people around him…
That have lashed back at after all these years…
In their own ways…
Because of the way that he was…

I don’t want to end up like him…
But I don’t want to let people step on me…

I’ve always tried to find a balance…
A line where I know when to “push”…
But I always seen to aim too low…

ugh…

God…
I don’t know where I’m going with this…

I guess this is where I needed to go…

This is one of the great things about blogging…

A place to vent…

A place to cleanse and let demons go…

I guess I needed to see the feelings I had inside
on screen to see where I’m at…

And now that I know…
I need to move on it…

Cause… I don’t want to hate anyone…

“G Force” or “How I learned to love the Anime.”

I decided to pick up some DVD’s for me to transfer over to my PSP,
so I could watch them on my daily commute…
I ended up picking “Lost in Translation”…

(Which I ended up not finishing cause…
1. The DVD translator didn’t work on it, darn it…
So I ended up not being able to watch it on my ride…
and
2. My week ended up being so busy that I wasn’t able to watch it at home.
Meh… )

But I was stumped as to what else to watch…

I was walking up and down the aisles
and ended up in the animation section…
As I was perusing the titles…
One jumped out at me…
The cover had a lone figure dressed in a white bird costume
with a giant letter “G” glowing in the corner…

“Wait a minute… It’s ‘G Force’!!! …ummm I mean… ‘Gatchaman’?!?!?”

One of my favorite times in my life was channel 11
(WPIX back then)
on sunday afternoon as a kid…

Besides the Kung Fu movies…
(Which is an entire other post unto itself…)

There was this cartoon that didn’t look like other cartoons I’ve seen…

Hanna Barbera was everywhere…
Laff olympics, Scooby Doo, El Cabong, etc…
But then there was this super hero group…

G Force…

(Which was also aired as “Battle Of The Planets” sometimes too…)

This cartoon, with voices that didn’t match up like a Godzilla film…

With heros with an edge…

Dressed up in bird costumes to represent their personalities…
And abilities…

Big eyes and smiles…

Draw so differently and sharp…

A certain amount of realism that I’d never seen before…

And I loved it…

I didn’t know it at the time…
But I had been exposed to my first taste of Anime…
And from there…
I developed a greater respect for animation from overseas…

I was never a die hard fan…
But I’m always drawn to Anime…
An interpretation of life
(past, present, future and alternative)
from a different perspective…
A different cultural basis…

Giant robots…
Demons and hunters…
Priests and Princesses…
Super soldiers…
And Anti-Heros…

And there was the cover of the series that started it all…
Staring right at me…
“Gatchaman”…
(Which I found out was the real title of the show…)

Needless to say…
I rented it…
And have been witnessing Ken and the crew
foil Galactor’s plans for days now…

*grin*

I *heart* anime…

 Either you’re in… Or you’re out…

OK…
I’m no label whore…
(Please… the majority of my wardrobe is Old Navy…
And…
Come on… Doesn’t it feel good to Payless.)
But I was watching Bravo
and I saw that one of my favorite reality shows is coming back on…
Project Runway Season 2 is set to come back on this fall…

I loved this show…

I’ve always been passively interested in the fashion scene…

I’ve been artistically geared ever since I could remember…
Fascinated with color and texture…
Shape and contrast…
And well…
Fashion is that…
But it moves…

Art on the move…

Another reason why I liked the show
was because of the personalities brought together…
Which brings me to the other item I noticed…

As I was surfing for more info on Project Runway on the Bravo website…
I came across this…
Project Jay
The Uber Fashion Bear/Winner extraordinaire…
Jay McCarroll…
Has an hour long documentary in the works…
Following his time from winning the first Project Runway…
Till now…
Unfortunately on the site…
The documentary debut date was “TBA”
Hopefully Bravo will be smart and premiere it
with the new season of Project Runway…

Can’t wait…

And so are the blogs of our lives…

Well I had a great birthday weekend…
Culminating with me heading over to the Eagle…
And eating leftover Eagle anniversary cake…
(If you squint your eyes a bit… It looks like birthday cake. ;) )
I ended up staying downstairs for most of the night…
But decided to head upstairs to the deck for a bit…
Cause the night was so brilliant…
(Airy and clear…)
Lucky I did, cause I scored the Bloggers hat trick…
I ended up running into Davis from evilBuddah,
Diego from Diego’s Trip
(I mean Jimmy… Um… Diego?),
and Aaron from Meanwhile
I stayed longer than I should have…
(read: I’m sleepy as I type this….)
But it was worth it…
Bantered about with my fellow bloggers about everything…
And then some…
But in the end, I needed to take my ass home…
I walked/bused my way to Union Square with Davis,
Touching on common ground…
(Geekdom… PSP… music… etc…)
It was real good to meet someone who has similar interests to mine…
Unfortunately we had to part ways as his train pulled in…
Minutes after…
My train pulled up…
And I got myself back home…
With a great birthday night tucked under my belt…

*smile*

Thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Happy :)
