Here’s to good friends… tonight is something special…
I FINALLY met Peter!
My co-host from the PMP Podcast…
Host of the Oh My Pod! Podcast…
And writer of Macboy X….
And we had a blast…
We will be going into more details on our PMP Podcast more than likely…
But for those who don’t tune in…
(which… shame on you… but eh… to each his own
)
He and his boyfriend Shawn…
(BTW… they make such a cute couple
)
We met each other at a restaurant in Chelsea called R.U.B….
(Righteous Urban Barbecue)
We gave each other long awaited hugs and proceeded on in…
We gorged on pulled pork…
side dish galore and
to top it all off…
DEEP FRIED OREO COOKIES!!!!
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
*drool*
We then met up with his friend Steve and his friend…
(Oh god… I forgot his name! Damn it.)
Anyway… we headed on over to “bear night” @ Dick’s Bar…
(It’s been years since I had been there…)
Had a couple of beers and then headed on over to the Phoenix
when things started dying down @ Dick’s…
It was cute!
Good looking crowd…
Nice mix of everyone…
Pool table and nice vibe…
(I think I’ll be going back again soon enough.)
But after a long night…
We said our goodbyes
As they dropped me off to the train…
All in all…
I loved hanging out with them…
Really great conversation…
Extremely similar interests and points of view…
Bottom line…
Good people…
You best all come back round again, ya hear?!?!?!
BTW… Doesn’t it look like I’m gonna start a fight or something?!?!?
I have no idea what was going through my head at that time… LOL

It’s justa jump to the left…
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it’s the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
Sometimes I think I was born at the wrong time…
I was watching LOGO tonight…
And the documentary about the Cockettes was on…
I had never watched it before…
And I was facinated…
The Cockettes are spectacular on their own…
But it not only stopped there…
The culture around it…
The time…
That was what facinated me the most…
The mid 60’s to early 70’s…
THAT period in time…
When I speak to many of my friends who are older than me…
And they speak of that time…
Be it east coast or west coast…
There is that twinkle in their eye…
Of a time of liberation…
Of discovery…
Of expression and community…
I understand the consequences of these moments as well…
The dark days that followed with…
HIV…
and overdoses…
The struggle to keep their heads above water…
To make ends meet…
To live…
But…
I’ve heard them always say…
“I’d never give up those moments…”
It’s those moments that I am most jealous of…
Sure…
When I will look back on my life when I’m older…
I am more than likely gonna say the same thing…
Moments that jump out…
That people will wonder what it was like when I was “younger”…
But to have lived back then…
Knowing what I know now…
In San Francisco…
In New York…
I could only guess at…
But I think it would have been a “magical”…

Make ‘em laugh… Make ‘em laugh…
I was doing my usual channel surfing and I landed on…
Inside the Actors Studio with special guest Robin Williams…
Geeeeeeeeeeeenius.
His mind is astounding…
You could tell that they had to edit the session…
Because of his ripping train of thought…
By the way everything was put together.
They usually are very good about
trying to have segments flow into each other…
Subject to answer and maybe a cut to distill to the point…
But jump cuts were abound…
To encompass Robin Williams
is like cupping your hands around an atom as it splits…
His energy and fearlessness is incredible…
And his reaction and wit is whip smart…
I easily go into tangents…
To be able to shift within a moment to another subject and ride that through
Till something else derails me to another distance…
But his journeys carry weight cause the subjects are filled out in seconds…
Like when he gives life to a caricature
but then fleshing them out with references and familiarities…
His knowledge of the world around him is extraordinary…
When I was studying acting…
I had always been fascinated with improv…
The art of making something out of nothing in an instant…
To let yourself go…
Mind, body and soul…
And let the moment take you to god knows where…
His mind must touch places that only we can dream of…
I’m in awe…
Edit: I just realized I just posted 2 items in a row that coincidentally
have Robin Williams as the Photo subject… WTF… Weird…

I wondered what I was popping in my mouth…
I was standing around work today,
fiending for something sweet
and was like…
“What the hell is candy corn?”
from the National Confectioners Association website
In 1900, it was the job of many men to produce candy corn for eight months of the year.
Sugar, corn syrup and other ingredients were cooked into a slurry in large kettles. Fondant and marshmallow were added to give a smooth texture and bite. The 45-lbs of hot candy was poured into buckets called runners. Men dubbed stringers walked backwards pouring the candy into cornstarch trays imprinted with the kernel shape. It took three passes to make the white, yellow and orange colors. Originally, candy corn was delivered by wagon in wooden boxes, tubs and cartons.
The process of making candy corn is very similar today, but now machines do most of the work. Manufacturers use a method called the corn starch molding process. A tray containing depressions is filled with corn starch. Candy corn is made from the bottom to the top and in three-color passes. First, the depression is filled one quarter full with yellow syrup and allowed to partially set. Next, the orange syrup is added. The mold is then topped off with the white syrup and is cooled. The candy now can gel together. After is it has finished cooling, the trays are emptied and the little candy corns are ready to be eaten.
In other words…
Different variations of sugar are combined to create…
A confection sweet enough to kill at least 5000 diabetics with a single bag….
Mmmmmmmm….
