Will you PLEASE return her black patent-leather shoes, size seven.

There is a reward.
She wants her pumps.
She said it’s not going to work, taking her shoes.
Give ‘em back.

-Paris Is Burning

My Adidas.
Cause I love em’.
Embracing the DIY…
Those Adicolor markers really do the trick.
Soooo Martha Stewart, I know.
But, they’re mine. :)
Thought I’d snap a pic while they’re still lookin good.
I rip up kicks pretty bad.

Yeah, I know. We get it.

I was at the Eagle last night for a brief moment.
Actually ran into Rey from My Secretive Life last night.
I haven’t seen him since the Blarg Hop and it was a nice surprise.

But anyway,
I was at the Eagle for a brief moment last night…
(I didn’t stay until the end of Blast like usual, I was pooped.)
And I saw this guy with a trucker cap on
with a picture of a Rooster/Cock on it…
And I immediately thought…
Okay… Yeah I get it.

Enough already.

It’s just, I don’t know.
I’m getting tired of all these shirts and hats that reek of sexual innuendo.
The gratuitous “Catcher”/”Pitcher” t-shirts with baseball players on them…
And, like, t-shirts that have some made up company,
usually related to plumbing, and laying “pipe”.

We know…
We get it…
You like the penis.

Sur-freakin-prise.

 Helloooooooooo nurse!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody remember Animaniacs?
Wakko, Jakko, and their sister Dot?
I used to love that show because of them…
Pinky and the Brain…
and that kid that used to scurry out of his house and say the most esoteric things…
Like…
“One time… this kid next door ended up sticking a pencil so far up his nose it tickled his brain…
Okaaaay. Bye.”

Oh… and that little ducky that used to say,
“Water go down the hoooooooole.”

I know.
You had to be there.

The reason I thought about this is that I was sitting here at my desk
trying to bang out a couple of emails that needed to go out.
It’s dead silent in here and I thought to myself,
“I need to listen to some music, for motivation.”

When I first started working here,
I had noticed that we had a mish mash of different CDs
collected by the front door and never knew if they were anybody’s.
I normally end up listening to an internet radio station,
but I wanted to switch things up a bit.
I went over to the pile of CDs and asked if they were anybody’s in particular.
I found out they were many peoples submissions
and giveaways that we ended up grabbing at different events for the office.

I flipped through the pile for a selection and one caught my eye.
“Dial-A-Song, 20 Years of They Might Be Giants”.
I had a brief flirtation with the alternative rock scene when I was younger
and I remember They Might Be Giants fondly.

First song on the disc.
“Birdhouse In My Soul”

Soooo good.

But the reason I brought up the Animaniacs
in the beginning of this post was because of this CD.
After a couple of really good tracks that I ended up going,
“Oh that was them?!?!?”
or
“Oh man… I haven’t heard this in soooo long.”

“Istanbul (not Constantinople)” and “Particle Man”
ended up coming into rotation.

And I flashed back to Animaniacs.

During the run of the cartoon,
They had many, memorable musical numbers
and even ended up covering many songs like,
‘Respect” by Aretha Franklin.

Animaniacs covered They Might Be Giants.

And it was brilliant.

And it will be a part of my childhood that will always make me smile.

Seeing Wakko, Jakko, and Dot riding on a camel to Istanbul, not Constantanople won huge cool points with me.

I know, you had to be there, but…

*grin*

Makes me want to buy new kicks…

I know I ended up talking about this on my podcast already…
But I wanted to mention it here…
Since I know that some of you don’t listen to my podcast…
And I think this was a great way to do a launch…

Adidas re- launched it’s Adicolor line this week…
And I happened to come across this event,
through one of the design websites I frequent…
Adidas has set up a secret hidden showroom in Chinatown
of limited edition Adicolor shoes and tracksuits,
designed and inspired by several creative companies and artists…
Like Dark Horse Comics, Pucci, Vice and Keith Haring…

The best thing was getting there.
It’s open from 1 - 7pm now until March 31st,
And to get there, go find Vinnie
(he’ll be in head-to-toe Adidas)
at 267 Canal Street and he’ll get you there.

He leads you through a series of hallways and alleyways,
And finally you’ll end up in an unmarked basement.
(Very Chinatown Black market backroom)
where everything is displayed in on pristine white brick shelves…
Crisp white, like the Adicolor line.
All the pieces are beautiful
and really pushes the idea that sneakers are no longer only an acccessory…
That they’ve become a lifestyle and a intricate part of our culture.
Everyone owns a pair of kicks… everyone.

 I felt like I was cultured… and stuff…

I was up on 28th picking up test results from my doctor’s office
and didn’t feel like going back to the office just yet,
so I ended up taking a bit of a detour.
I decided to go to Oliver’s gallery yesterday.

I had been reading Oliver’s blog for a while now,
and I know he soooooo doesn’t need the traffic to his blog,
but he has always documented his comings and goings
at his gallery and I was curious how it was.

I walk down 28th St. to 11th Ave., passing by the Eagle
and crossed the street.
I never realized the expanse of galleries in this area,
especially on the street that 5BE was on.
My exploration in this area always ended up stopping at 11th Ave
and that was it.
As I was walking down the cobblestone streets,
I flashed back to my earlier days and thought,
“Wasn’t Tunnel around here?!?!”

Ummm, no… dork.

Anyway, passing a number of galleries, I ended up at 5BE,
entered in and the main office was right there.
I saw Oliver, but he was in the middle of some meeting
with a couple of women, so I said “hi” and just headed in.

His collection had a great cohesiveness to it.
A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll?
Twisted steel and sex appeal?
I don’t believe the works are from the same artist,
unless the artist is so gifted
as to work in shit loads of different mediums
from pen and ink to steel sculpture.

Really funky stuff,
from car doors turned into wings
with “rock royalty” touches of monograms everywhere
to intricate pen and ink drawings with images
reminiscent of concert posters that smattered the streets
of San Fran and St. Mark’s place.
There was even a huge sculpture of a butterfly
covered in candy rope, glitter and sparkling confetti.
A nod to glam and indy rock?

I really liked everything there and wanted to stay a little longer,
But I pushed my time and had to head back into the office.
As I passed by the main office,
Oliver was still in the meeting and on the phone.
I guess introductions are gonna have to wait till next time.
I mean, how dorky would it have been
if I had interrupted his meeting and said,
“Ummm, hi. I read your blog.
Thought I’d say hi, and um,
check out your gallery and, um… stuff.”

Lovely.

Anyways, if any of you guys are in New York,
check out Oliver’s gallery and the many others that are in
Chelsea’s gallery district.
A little culture goes a long way.
Now I’m off.
I’ve got an appointment to scratch my ass, pick my nose and burp.

If I was dead and buried…

I’d be rolling in my grave, RIGHT NOW!
I was at my office and one of my associates just received in the mail…

The remix of the theme from
Brokeback Mountain….

OMG…WHY! WHY! WHY! WHY! WHY!

I’m dying.
Nope. Nope. I’m dead. Yup. I’m formerly living.
Deceased if you will.

And if I know how things go.
It’s gonna do EXTREMELY well.
Especially in the gay clubs and bars.

The timing for this was perfect.

The Winter Music Conference just started down in Miami.
They totally got their copies sent already especially gay clubs like Twist etc.
Defintiely gonna get some huge exposure down there.

And this week in NYC…

It’s Black Party Weekend.

This entire week is gonna be filled with leather, uniforms, denim, and chaps.
Perfect for a Brokeback Mountain remix to be released.
The boys at Hammerstein, Crobar and Pacha
are gonna get a heavy dose of Jack Nasty in their music rotation.
And not in a good way.

It’s gonna be everywhere this week.

*sigh*

Man… I’m getting a migraine just thinking about it.
