Beatles vs. NIN - Come Closer Together
Yeah I know…
The mash up thing was so 2006…
Or whatever…
It was so “then”…
But again…
Like usual….
I was trolling around YouTube and found a brilliant video…
Someone overlaid The Beatles - “Come Together” over NIN - “Closer”…
And did a spectacular job…
The end is a bit wonky…
But all in all, it’s a really great job.
Enjoy.

Okay… Seth Rogen is…
…freakin’ adorable.
Okay… haven’t seen the entire movie of Knocked Up.
(It was playing on the plane ride from Vancouver…
but for some unknown circumstance, it never finished playing.
Effin’ ghetto.)
And I’m in the midsts of watching the 40 Year Old Virgin…
But I did watch Superbad and thought it was hilarious.
But for some apparent reason I kept focusing on one of the cops.
Okay… It could have been the uniform…
Okay… It could have been the handlebar mustache…
Okay… It could have been cause he acts as goofy as I can be sometimes…
Okay… It could be cause he’s burly…
And seems like a normal joe.
But Seth Rogen…
Yeah… I know he’s straight.
But…
Okay… I’m going out on a limb here.
But…
I’d love him long time.
Hmmm… too direct?
Meh…
I’m not up to the…
Sign my chest and I’ll tattoo over it to remember it forever level.
But… I’d do body shots off his balls if he asked me too.
I’m just sayin’…

Hmmm… Public Television.
Stayed home today…
Just in case I was coming down with something.
I’ve been feeling a little rundown as of late.
After tooling around online for a while.
I thought… ah hell let’s watch the boob tube.
Well ended up laying in bed taking it easy.
And actually channeled surfed to PBS and tell you the truth.
I was glued for a good number of hours.
First was a monthly program that many might know.
A series called In The Life.
This program puts together documentary shorts on GLBT subjects.
I’ve been a fan of this show for a while…
And would catch it every now and then.
Cause to know where “we” are now, helps us know where “we” need to go.
This episode looked back on it’s own past
and recapped on several subjects.
Most notably to me was
the connection of Judy Garland’s death and the Stonewall riots…
As well as the struggle of same sex couples with immigration laws…
When one partner is not of this country.
The next program was “The Secret World of Haute Couture”
Okay…
I’m technically a fashionista of the Carhartt kind…
But, call me a big homo…
I like fashion… to a certain degree.
I mean… come on.
Project Runway didn’t make it big on it’s own ya’ know.
Someone out there besides myself got to be interested in it.
Well the documentary delved into the intricate makings of Haute Couture…
The fashion houses that create it…
And the select wealthy clientèle that buys these walking works of art.
Beautiful pieces… interesting world.
And lastly…
I caught “Second City: The First Family of Comedy“…
(Unfortunately… it’s only part 1 of 2 I caught…
the second part is tomorrow night… and guess who’s working.
I wondered why it ended so abruptly.)
It’s a great documentary about the the beginnings of Second City…
The comedy birthplace to many sketch and improv talents such as…
John Candy, Gilda Radner, Eugene Levy, Dan Akroyd, John Belushi…
Just to name a few.
I’ve always been a big fan of sketch/impov comedy shows…
And was fascinated to see where it all began with many of them.
After growing up all these years…
And had always thought of PBS as just Sesame Street
And dry programming concerning the stock market and cooking…
Never thought I’d find myself glued to PBS.
Hmmm… Maybe I will buy that PBS tote bag next time around.
Who knows.

Man… slept for like 12 hours
I have no idea if I’m coming down with something.
Or I’m just exhausted from running around for the holidays…
And working 6 days last week.
I just hope I’m well.
This would suck.

Cliche’
Wow…
Never thought I’d hear myself utter the phrase…
“I bet you say that to all the guys.”
Golly.
What was I thinking?

Mary J. Blige - Just fine
Coming home from work this morning…
I noticed on a poster I was passing by
That Mary J. Blige was dropping a new album…
This December 18th…
I, of course, had to check things out on iTunes…
And I’m loving her new single, “Just Fine”
Yes…
The producers were the same people…
That did Rihanna’s damn Umbrella song…
But that’s not stopping me from buying the album when it comes out.
Sure…
I loved her when she was angry…
Hurt and riding through something in her music…
But it seems with this new single…
She’s moving on…
Moving forward…
To a place where she needs to be.
(P.S. - She’s giving me wicked Michael Jackson flashbacks with this.)

Bear Cub (Cachorro)
Well…
Recently I’ve been catching up on movies I never saw…
Cause I recently joined Netflix…
Sort of…
But that’s another story…
But the first movie I ended up queue up…
Was an independent film I had wanted to see for a long time…
It was released 3 years ago…
And I had passed by the Angelica Film Forum numerous times…
But by the time I had a chance to see it…
It was already out of the theater.
That movie was Bear Cub…
Or Cachorro in it’s native Spanish.
This touching and humorous film is set in Madrid…
Centered around a gay man
And the relationship that grows with his nephew…
That he was to look after for a short time…
But after the nephew’s mother is unable to come back for him…
This bear of a man must find a balance between his lifestyle…
And his responsibility as new found parent…
And within this balance…
A new family is born.
The characters are well flushed out…
And it was a breath of fresh air
to see gay men portrayed so truthfully…
While the chemistry between the main character
and his nephew was brilliant…
If you ever get a chance to rent this movie…
Do so.
I highly recommend it.

Snow
And I’m not talking about the guy from the 90’s who sang…
Informer, you no say
that’s who I’m gonna blame
a licky boom boom down
As I left the bar this morning…
Walking to the train station…
With a co-worker/friend of mine…
I hear him say…
“Is that snow?”
I look up…
And sure enough…
A light flurry had begun to drift down…
Absorbing the flashes of color…
From the Macy’s media screen behind…
Like confetti on New Year’s Eve.
And so it begins…
